The Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf

Mayor Cllr Simon Lloyd

I am proud and honored to have the opportunity of becoming the first citizen and ambassador for our County Borough.

During the year as Deputy Mayor, I have met so many wonderful, dedicated people and learned of so much good work being carried out in the communities of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

As you know, recent times have been quite difficult for me and my family with the passing of Valerie after a long illness. Can I thank everyone for their kind words and their support, I am very grateful. Indeed, the experiences we have been through led me to decide on supporting charities that look after other families that are affected by cancer.

I will dedicate my year to raising awareness and funds for Marie Curie, the Cynon Valley Cancer Support Group and Christian Lewis Trust in order to ease the burden of those facing the most difficult of times.

I would also like to support the charity arm of The Royal Corps of Signals who look after former veterans who are facing hard times.

I am extremely proud to be nominated by my peers to serve as Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf. I will do my very best to promote and represent, what I consider to be the finest County in Wales. Thank you very much, Diolch yn fawr!

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce Cllr Sylvia Jones as Deputy Mayor and Canon John Griffiths, who will be my Chaplain.
